About the integration

What Commercium solves for Acumatica users

Commercium connects Acumatica with e-commerce, OMS, POS, shipping, retail networks and 1st-party dropship platforms, enabling seamless product, inventory, order & shipment synchronisation across your commerce platforms, through Acumatica’s Contract-Based REST API.

The problem

The ERP is right, the channels are behind

Acumatica already holds your items, stock, customers and finance. What it does not do on its own is talk to the ten places you sell, so someone ends up copying orders in and stock out, every day.

Marketplace orders re-keyed into Acumatica by hand
Stock accurate in Acumatica, stale on every sales channel
Item attributes and prices maintained twice
Branch, warehouse and order-type decisions made per order
Tracking numbers typed back into the channel after dispatch
Custom Usr fields invisible to the integration that needs them
With Commercium

Acumatica as the source of truth for every channel

Listing through dispatch runs on a schedule, driven by the data already in Acumatica, including the custom fields your implementation depends on.

Channel orders created as Acumatica sales orders automatically
Availability published from Acumatica warehouses near real-time
Items, attributes and price lists mapped once, published everywhere
Branch, warehouse, order type and customer set by business rules
Shipment and tracking confirmed back to the channel on dispatch
Usr fields and custom entities exposed through an extended endpoint

About the platform

What Acumatica is, and what integrating it actually involves

Acumatica is a cloud ERP built on its own xRP platform, licensed by resources rather than per user, and shipped in industry editions. Almost every live instance is customized, which is why the integration is configured against a named endpoint, not a guess about the API surface.

What to know about Acumatica

A cloud ERP for mid-market businesses

Acumatica is a browser-based ERP covering financials, distribution, inventory, order management, manufacturing, projects and CRM. It is licensed by the resources and workflows you use rather than per user, so operations staff, warehouse teams and integrations all sit inside the same instance.

Everything integrates through the REST API

Acumatica exposes its data through the Contract-Based REST API, published as a named Web Service Endpoint with a version, for example Default/24.200. Commercium connects to a specific endpoint and version rather than assuming every instance has an identical API surface.

Built to be customized

Most live Acumatica instances carry Customization Projects: extra fields, screens, workflows and modules built for that business. User-defined fields use the Usr prefix, and anything custom that the integration needs has to be exposed deliberately.

Editions decide the modules

The integration is configured for whichever modules and entities your edition includes, General Business, Distribution, Retail, Manufacturing, Construction or Professional Services, plus your enabled features, companies, branches and warehouses.

Deployment is your choice

Acumatica runs as SaaS, partner-managed hosting, private cloud or customer-managed and on-premises infrastructure. Commercium connects to any of them, provided the instance is reachable securely over the internet or an approved private network path.

Designed for upgrades

Acumatica ships two major releases a year and supports upgradeable customizations. Because we bind to an endpoint name and version, the existing contract can be validated after an upgrade before production moves to a newer one.

Standard or customized, both connect

Extended endpoints for custom fields, screens and workflows

Commercium works with standard Acumatica functionality and with customer-specific implementations. When the data you need is not available through the standard endpoint, an extended Web Service Endpoint is configured to expose exactly the entities, fields and actions the integration requires, nothing more.

Secure OAuth 2.0 connection

Commercium is registered as a Connected Application inside Acumatica, which issues the OAuth 2.0 client credentials used to authorize the connection. Your regular Acumatica login credentials are never shared with or stored by the integration.

Client ID and secret are entered through an approved secure method, never sent over ordinary email.

Product StockItem · NonStockItem REST Item identity, description, attributes, item class, units of measure and price lists are read from Acumatica and mapped into channel listings.
Inventory InventorySummary · Warehouse REST Quantity available is read per warehouse and location, pooled to the rules you set, then published with buffers per channel.
Orders SalesOrder REST Channel orders are created as sales orders with the order type, branch, customer, tax category, discounts, shipping method and lines mapped to your configuration.
Shipment Shipment · ShipmentDetail REST Shipment creation, release and dispatch data, including carrier, service and tracking, flow back out to the channel, partial fulfilment included.
Customers Customer REST Buyers are matched to existing accounts or created against the customer class and account rules you nominate for each channel.
Custom Usr fields · custom entities Extended endpoint Required custom fields, entities and actions are added to an extended endpoint and mapped to the underlying Acumatica screens and data views.
How it works

How the Acumatica integration works

Nine steps from reviewing your Acumatica environment to a monitored production go-live, including the extended endpoint when your custom fields need it.

1

Review the Acumatica environment

Release and build, deployment model, edition, enabled modules, companies and branches, warehouses, existing Customization Projects, custom fields and the workflows you need, this decides whether the standard endpoint is enough.

2

Register Commercium as a Connected Application

Your Acumatica administrator registers Commercium to issue OAuth 2.0 credentials, and creates or assigns an integration user with access to the required companies, branches, screens and records.

3

Select or create the Web Service Endpoint

If your data is already exposed, we connect to the appropriate version of the Default endpoint. If not, a dedicated Commercium endpoint is created by extending an existing one.

4

Expose custom data where required

Custom fields, entities and actions are added to the extended endpoint and mapped to the right screens and data views. For custom modules we verify the data and actions are reachable through the REST API.

5

Connect the Acumatica instance

Instance URL, company or tenant, OAuth client ID and secret, endpoint name and version, and branch settings are configured securely. Commercium then authenticates and validates access to every required entity.

6

Configure data mappings

Products and variants, inventory items, warehouses and locations, price lists, customers, sales orders and lines, taxes and discounts, shipping methods, fulfilments, tracking, cancellations, returns and custom fields.

7

Configure business rules

Store-to-branch mapping, external warehouse to Acumatica location, order types, customer accounts, tax categories, payment and shipping methods, inventory buffers, warehouse routing, order release and publishing conditions.

8

Test the complete workflow

Representative scenarios end to end: product creation, inventory and price sync, order import, tax and discount handling, customer matching, shipment and partial fulfilment, tracking, cancellations, returns, custom fields and error recovery.

9

Activate and monitor

Workflows go live after approval. Commercium monitors synchronization and gives you logs, error detail and retry controls so issues get resolved without manually recreating transactions.

What we learnt while integrating Acumatica for our users

Working notes from live Acumatica implementations, the things that decide whether a customized ERP runs quietly alongside a dozen sales channels, and how each one became automation inside Commercium.

Custom fields carry the data the business actually runs on

Customers routinely use custom fields, or spare default fields, to record which sales channel an order came from, which warehouse fulfilled it, or what the channel-specific price was. Commercium synchronizes data stored in Acumatica custom fields, including user-defined fields using the Usr prefix, mapped to API entities through an extended Web Service Endpoint.

Acumatica upgrades require integration validation

Acumatica is designed to support upgradeable customizations, but integrations involving custom fields, overridden methods, custom actions or third-party modules should still be tested after an upgrade, particularly when moving between major R1 and R2 releases. Because we bind to an endpoint name and version, the existing contract can be validated first and production moved onto a newer one deliberately.

Error handling has to consider Acumatica business rules

An API error does not always mean the connection failed. Acumatica may reject a request because the transaction violates a business rule, and a log that only says “400” sends someone hunting for a network fault that does not exist. Useful logs retain the relevant Acumatica response plus enough transaction context to identify the real business cause, so the fix is a configuration change and a retry rather than a re-created document.

What a useful failure looks like
1Request rejected by Acumatica
2Raw response retained
3Business cause identified
4Configuration corrected
5Same transaction retried
Rejections that look like outages but are not

An invalid order status or a document that cannot be modified

Acumatica will refuse to change a document that has moved past the state your request assumes. The retry has to know which state the record is actually in.

A closed financial period

Perfectly valid data is rejected simply because the period is closed. This is a calendar problem, not an integration problem, and it needs to read that way in the log.

Missing customer configuration

Customer class, terms, tax zone or account defaults that were never set for the channel account will stop an order from posting.

An unavailable item or invalid warehouse

Items not stocked in the mapped warehouse, or locations that do not exist for that branch, are one of the most common order-import failures.

A required field that was not supplied

Custom implementations frequently make a field mandatory. If it is not in the mapping, every order fails the same way until it is.

Custom validation from another package

A third-party or in-house customization can reject the request for its own reasons. Keeping the raw Acumatica response is the only way to see that quickly.

Working notes from our integration team, we update this section as Acumatica’s releases and requirements change.

FAQ'S

Acumatica questions, answered

Technical questions about how the Acumatica integration works, and general questions about running on Commercium.

Can Commercium create products on Acumatica?
Yes. Product sync is available for Acumatica in both directions: Commercium can create and update stock and non-stock items in Acumatica, and it can generate marketplace and storefront listings from the items Acumatica already holds, including attributes, descriptions, units of measure, price lists and custom Usr fields exposed through the endpoint.
Can Acumatica orders be sent to my other systems, and channel orders into Acumatica?
Yes, both ways. Channel orders are transformed and created as Acumatica sales orders with the correct order type, branch, customer, tax category and shipping method. Acumatica orders and shipments can equally be sent out to supported ecommerce, OMS, WMS, accounting or fulfilment systems, with tracking flowing back to the originating channel.
Can Commercium help businesses new to Acumatica?
Yes. Commercium works with businesses during onboarding to prepare product data, connect systems, configure mappings and establish operational workflows, including agreeing item identity, branch and warehouse mapping, order types and customer accounts before the first live order arrives.
Can I connect more than one Acumatica instance, company or branch using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many Acumatica instances, companies and branches, and as many channel accounts, as you want while remaining on your same plan. You only upgrade when you cross your plan’s order limits.
What are the next steps to connect Acumatica using Commercium?
Nine steps. First, we review your Acumatica environment, release and build, deployment model, edition, enabled modules, companies and branches, warehouses, existing Customization Projects, custom fields and the workflows you need. Second, your administrator registers Commercium as a Connected Application to issue OAuth 2.0 credentials and assigns an integration user. Third, we select the appropriate version of the Default endpoint or create a dedicated Commercium endpoint by extending an existing one. Fourth, any required custom fields, entities and actions are exposed on that endpoint. Fifth, the instance URL, company, OAuth credentials, endpoint name and version and branch settings are configured securely and validated. Sixth, data mappings are configured for products, inventory, warehouses, price lists, customers, orders, taxes, shipping and fulfilment. Seventh, business rules are configured, store to branch, warehouse to location, order types, customer accounts, buffers, routing and release conditions. Eighth, the complete workflow is tested with representative scenarios. Ninth, the workflows are activated for production and monitored with logs, error detail and retry controls.
Which Acumatica versions, editions and deployments are supported?
We support Acumatica releases from 2022 through to the latest version. The integration is configured for the modules and entities available in your edition, General Business, Distribution, Retail, Manufacturing, Construction or Professional Services, and connects to instances deployed on Acumatica SaaS, partner-managed hosting, private cloud, or customer-managed and on-premises infrastructure. The instance must be reachable securely over the internet or through an approved private network configuration.
Does Commercium need an extended Web Service Endpoint?
Only when the data you need is not already exposed. If the required entities and fields are available through Acumatica’s standard endpoint, we connect to the appropriate version of the Default endpoint. If additional entities, custom fields or actions are required, a dedicated endpoint such as Commercium is created by extending an existing Acumatica endpoint and mapped to the relevant screens and data views.
Do you need our Acumatica login credentials?
No. Commercium is registered as a Connected Application inside Acumatica, which provides the OAuth 2.0 client credentials used to authorize the connection. You also create or assign an integration user with access to the required companies, branches, screens and records. Your regular Acumatica login credentials are never shared, and the client ID and secret should be entered through an approved secure method rather than ordinary email.
Can Commercium sync our custom fields?
Yes. Commercium synchronizes data stored in Acumatica custom fields, including user-defined fields using the Usr prefix, marketplace order IDs, external warehouse references, fulfilment methods, channel-specific prices, listing statuses, custom order classifications and customer-specific product information. The required fields are mapped to API entities through an extended Web Service Endpoint. For custom modules, we verify the functionality is reachable through the Contract-Based REST API; additional customization may be required when a module does not expose its data or actions.
What happens to the integration after an Acumatica upgrade?
Because Commercium connects to a named endpoint and version rather than assuming every instance is identical, the existing endpoint can be validated before production moves to a newer endpoint contract. We re-test OAuth authentication, endpoint availability, entity and field mappings, Customization Package compatibility, business actions, order import, inventory sync, shipment and tracking workflows and any customer-specific validation rules, which matters most when moving between major R1 and R2 releases.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes, we provide 28 days, no credit card required free trial.
Does every order I receive on any channel get counted against my plan order limit?
No, we only count those orders against your plan order limit that you receive via channels that you have connected using Commercium.

For example, if you are already selling on Shopify and you started selling on 3 new marketplaces connected via Commercium, we will only count those orders against your plan limit that you receive from those 3 new marketplaces, not the orders that you receive via Shopify.
How frequently does the data sync happen between the connected platforms?
Inventory sync happens near real-time and all other sync happens within 5–10 minutes.
Can I connect additional marketplaces & platforms later using Commercium?
Yes. Commercium supports over 200+ marketplaces, ecommerce platforms, ERPs, shipping providers, accounting systems and fulfilment platforms through the same application.

Most of the platforms you can connect for free while remaining on your existing plan.
What happens when I cross my plan limit?
Once you cross your plan limit, your data sync remains active and everything keeps working as usual. We send you a monthly overage invoice that you can pay from within your Commercium portal within 7 days of the invoice issue date.

You can also upgrade to a higher plan later if you continuously cross your plan’s limits, because it saves you money since higher volume plans cost less.
What support is included?
12×5 support is included, with priority support and SLAs available on Enterprise. Onboarding assistance covers data preparation, mappings and workflow setup rather than leaving you with documentation.
