About the integration

What Commercium solves for Kogan sellers

Commercium connects Kogan with E-commerce, OMS, ERPs, POS, Shipping & Accounting platforms, enabling seamless product, inventory, order & shipment synchronisation across your commerce platforms.

The problem

A marketplace you can’t see into

Kogan runs on its API. Without an integration platform, sellers have no screen where their catalogue lives, and everything after the sale is manual too.

No seller UI on Kogan to create or edit products, every change is an API job
Listings corrected by delisting and relisting, one SKU at a time
Stock and price kept in step with your store and ERP by hand
Orders re-keyed into an ERP, OMS or warehouse system
Tracking numbers typed back after dispatch
Cancellations and refunds handled outside the systems that hold your finance data
With Commercium

One workspace for the whole Kogan lifecycle

Products through refunds run on a schedule from the systems that already hold your catalogue, stock, orders and finance data.

Full product management from your Commercium catalogue view
Bulk delist & relist driven by rules, not manual work
Near real-time inventory & price sync across every channel
Orders written straight into your store, ERP, OMS or WMS
Shipment confirmation & tracking pushed back to Kogan
Cancellations and seller-issued refunds run from one place

About the platform

What Kogan is, and what selling on it actually involves

Kogan.com is one of Australia’s largest online retail destinations, and Kogan Marketplace opens that storefront to third-party sellers across Australia and New Zealand. Sellers hold their own stock, ship their own orders, and run the whole relationship through Kogan’s REST API rather than a seller dashboard.

What to know about Kogan

An Australian online retail brand

Kogan.com started as a direct-to-consumer electronics retailer and grew into one of Australia’s best-known online shopping destinations, now listed on the ASX and covering electronics, appliances, home, furniture, tools and everyday essentials.

Kogan Marketplace

Kogan opened its storefront to third-party sellers, so approved sellers list their own products alongside Kogan’s own range and reach the same audience, with Kogan handling the storefront, traffic and customer payment.

Seller-shipped fulfilment

Marketplace sellers hold and dispatch their own stock. You publish availability, receive the order and ship it yourself under the dispatch expectations set by Kogan.

Kogan First shoppers

Kogan runs a paid membership programme whose members shop more often and expect fast, reliable dispatch, which makes accurate stock and quick shipment confirmation commercially important, not just operationally tidy.

API-first for sellers

Kogan’s seller integration is a REST API. Product, inventory, order, shipment, cancellation and refund operations all run through it, which is why sellers integrate rather than click.

Refunds sit with the seller

Unlike most marketplaces, Kogan lets sellers issue refunds against their own orders once refund permission is enabled on the API key, the money decision stays with you.

Two countries, one set of credentials

Kogan Australia and Kogan New Zealand

The same API keys can be used for both country marketplaces, so expanding across the Tasman is a configuration decision rather than a second integration. Commercium keeps one source catalogue and applies separate listing, pricing, currency and availability rules per country, you decide which SKUs appear where.

Getting your API key

Kogan API credentials are issued by the Kogan seller support team as part of onboarding. Ask for refund permission at the same time, otherwise refunds have to be raised outside the integration later.

We give you the exact wording to send Kogan support so the key arrives with every permission the integration needs.
The Kogan API surface we work with
Product Listing create & update Products are created from your catalogue with Kogan category, attributes, media and pricing. There is no seller UI, so this is the only way to manage a listing.
Inventory Stock & price Quantity and price updates published near real-time from the systems that own your stock, with buffers per channel.
Orders Order retrieval New Kogan orders are pulled on a short cycle and transformed into orders in your store, ERP, OMS or WMS.
Shipment Dispatch confirmation Carrier, service and tracking submitted back to Kogan when the warehouse dispatches, including partial shipments.
Cancellation Order cancellation Cancellations captured and reflected in your systems, with stock released back into the available pool.
Refund Seller-issued refund Full or partial refunds raised from Commercium, requires refund permission on your Kogan API key.
How it works

From demo to live Kogan listings

Five steps from the first conversation to a controlled go-live, including the Kogan API key request that most new sellers do not plan for.

1

Book a demo with Commercium

Tell us what you sell, whether you want Kogan Australia, Kogan New Zealand or both, and which systems hold your catalogue, stock, orders and finance data.

2

Request your Kogan API key

Kogan issues API credentials through its seller support team. We tell you exactly what to ask for, including refund permission.

3

Connect your platforms

Your integration engineer connects your ecommerce store, ERP, OMS, WMS, POS, shipping and accounting systems alongside your Kogan account.

4

Map catalogue & operations

We map SKU identity, Kogan categories and attributes, price and RRP rules, warehouses, carriers, tax treatment and refund reasons.

5

Test, list & go live

We list a controlled batch first and run test orders, dispatches, cancellations and refunds, then switch the full catalogue live.

Already have your Kogan API key?

Bring the key and your catalogue source and we will list a test batch, pull a live order and run a refund with you on the same call.

Field experience

What we learnt while integrating Kogan for our users

Working notes from live Kogan operations, the things that decide whether a Kogan account runs quietly, and how each one became automation inside Commercium.

Kogan hands the refund decision to its sellers

Unlike most marketplaces, Kogan gives sellers the power to refund an order themselves. That is genuinely useful, you can settle a damaged item or a partial credit without a marketplace case, but it only works if refund permission is enabled on your API key, and if the refund lands in your accounting system as well as on the order. Commercium raises the refund against the Kogan order, writes the credit note into your ERP or accounting platform and keeps the reason and audit trail with it.

There is no seller UI, so the integration is the interface

Kogan does not give sellers a screen to manage products. Everything about a listing is an API operation, which is exactly why an integration platform stops being a convenience and becomes necessary: without one, a seller cannot see their own catalogue, let alone fix it. In Commercium your Kogan listings are a normal product list, searchable, filterable, bulk-editable, with the live state of every SKU and the reason behind any listing that failed.

Without an integration
1No catalogue view
2Changes scripted by hand
3Errors found by a customer
With Commercium
1Full catalogue view
2Bulk edit & republish
3Errors surfaced with reasons

Updating a listing means delisting and relisting

Because there is no seller UI to update products, meaningful catalogue changes are handled by delisting the product and relisting it with the corrected data. Done one SKU at a time that is punishing; done as a rule over a catalogue it is routine. Commercium batches delist-and-relist cycles, keeps the source data in your own systems, and republishes in a controlled order so a range refresh does not take your listings offline all at once.

Controlled republish
1Change detected in your catalogue
2Affected SKUs batched
3Delist on Kogan
4Relist with corrected data
5Result confirmed per SKU

Onboarding starts with a support ticket, not a signup

Kogan API keys are issued by the seller support team. That is the step most new sellers do not plan for, and it is where elapsed time goes, not in the build. We tell you what to request, including refund permission and both country marketplaces, so the key arrives once and works for every flow.

Credential path

2Confirm AU and/or NZ marketplace

4Test batch listed & validated

Stock accuracy carries more weight than price

Kogan shoppers, and Kogan First members in particular, buy on the expectation the item ships quickly. We publish availability from the systems that actually own stock, ERP, WMS, store or POS, with per-channel buffers, so a shared pool never turns into a cancellation.

Order data needs a home before you list

Sellers who plug in Kogan before deciding where orders land end up managing a second inbox. Decide the destination, store, ERP, OMS or WMS, and the tax and customer mapping first; listing is the easy part afterwards.

New Zealand is a rules decision, not a project

Because the same credentials cover both marketplaces, the real work in expanding to Kogan NZ is deciding which SKUs, prices and shipping promises apply there. We hold that as a separate rule set over one catalogue.

Dispatch confirmation is a scorecard item

Tracking that goes back late looks the same to a customer as a late parcel. Wiring shipment confirmation directly to the warehouse dispatch event, rather than an end-of-day manual upload, is the single easiest performance win.

Ask for every API permission up front

Keys are issued by Kogan seller support, and a key without refund permission means a whole flow has to be handled manually until it is re-issued. We list the permissions to request before the ticket is raised.

Content quality decides discoverability

Titles, attributes and images are what shoppers filter and search on. Keeping that content generated from one catalogue source, instead of typed per marketplace, is what keeps Kogan listings consistent with your store as your range changes.

Working notes from our integration team, we update this section as Kogan’s requirements change.

FAQ'S

Kogan questions, answered

Technical questions about how the Kogan integration works, and general questions about running on Commercium.

Can Commercium create products on Kogan?
Yes. Product sync is available for Kogan, so Commercium creates and maintains your Kogan listings from your own catalogue, category and attribute mapping, variants, images, descriptions, price and RRP. Since Kogan gives sellers no product management UI, this is also where you see and manage those listings.
Can Kogan orders be sent to my ERP?
Yes. Kogan orders can be transformed and sent to supported ERP, ecommerce, OMS, WMS, accounting or fulfilment systems, with shipment confirmation, cancellations and refunds flowing back to Kogan from the same connection.
Can Commercium help new Kogan sellers?
Yes. Commercium works with businesses during onboarding to prepare product data, connect systems, configure mappings and establish operational workflows, including telling you exactly what to request from Kogan seller support so your API key arrives with the permissions you need.
Can I connect more than one seller account of Kogan using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many seller accounts as you want while remaining on your same plan using Commercium. You only upgrade when you cross your plan’s order limits.
What are the next steps to connect Kogan using Commercium?
Five steps. First, book a demo with Commercium and tell us what you sell, whether you want Kogan Australia, Kogan New Zealand or both, and which systems hold your catalogue, stock, orders and finance data. Second, request your Kogan API key from Kogan seller support, we tell you exactly what to ask for, including refund permission. Third, your integration engineer connects your ecommerce store, ERP, OMS, WMS, POS, shipping and accounting systems alongside your Kogan account. Fourth, we map SKU identity, Kogan categories and attributes, price and RRP rules, warehouses, carriers, tax treatment and refund reasons. Fifth, we list a controlled test batch and run test orders, dispatches, cancellations and refunds, then switch the full catalogue live and monitor it.
How do I get Kogan API credentials?
Kogan issues API keys through its seller support team as part of seller onboarding; there is no self-service key generation. Ask for refund permission at the same time, and confirm which country marketplaces you intend to sell on, so the key does not have to be re-issued later.
Can I sell on Kogan Australia and Kogan New Zealand with the same connection?
Yes. The same API keys can be used for both country marketplaces. Commercium keeps one source catalogue and applies separate listing, pricing, currency and availability rules per country, so you choose which SKUs appear on each marketplace.
Can I issue refunds to Kogan customers from Commercium?
Yes. Kogan gives sellers the power to refund their own orders, and Commercium raises full or partial refunds against the Kogan order, provided refund permission is enabled on your API key. The refund reason and audit trail are kept, and a matching credit note can be written into your ERP or accounting platform.
How do I update a product that is already listed on Kogan?
Kogan has no seller UI for editing products, so meaningful catalogue changes are handled by delisting the product and relisting it with corrected data. Commercium batches those delist-and-relist cycles from your source catalogue and republishes in a controlled order, so a range refresh does not take your listings offline all at once.
Does Commercium handle Kogan cancellations?
Yes. Cancellation sync is part of the integration. Cancellations are captured with their reason codes, reflected in your store, ERP or OMS, and the stock is released back into the available pool so the quantity you publish stays correct.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes, we provide 28 days, no credit card required free trial.
Does every order I receive on any channel get counted against my plan order limit?
No, we only count those orders against your plan order limit that you receive via channels that you have connected using Commercium.

For example, if you are already selling on Shopify and you started selling on 3 new marketplaces connected via Commercium, we will only count those orders against your plan limit that you receive from those 3 new marketplaces, not the orders that you receive via Shopify.
How frequently does the data sync happen between the connected platforms?
Inventory sync happens near real-time and all other sync happens within 5–10 minutes.
Can I connect additional marketplaces & platforms later using Commercium?
Yes. Commercium supports over 200+ marketplaces, ecommerce platforms, ERPs, shipping providers, accounting systems and fulfilment platforms through the same application.

Most of the platforms you can connect for free while remaining on your existing plan.
What happens when I cross my plan limit?
Once you cross your plan limit, your data sync remains active and everything keeps working as usual. We send you a monthly overage invoice that you can pay from within your Commercium portal within 7 days of the invoice issue date.

You can also upgrade to a higher plan later if you continuously cross your plan’s limits, because it saves you money since higher volume plans cost less.
What support is included?
12×5 support is included, with priority support and SLAs available on Enterprise. Onboarding assistance covers data preparation, mappings and workflow setup rather than leaving you with documentation.
Still have a question about your setup?
