About the integration

What Commercium solves between Business Central and Kogan

Kogan Marketplace runs on a seller API and its own approval process, not a live storefront your team edits directly. Business Central is where your items, locations, pricing and accounting already live. Commercium keeps the two in step, so your team stops calling the Kogan API by hand and stops re-typing orders every time stock, price or a return changes.

The problem

Listings, stock, price, orders and refunds live in separate places

Selling on Kogan means keeping your Business Central items and location data in step with what Kogan's API and Seller Centre actually show, by hand.

·New listings created one API call or one seller-portal entry at a time
·Price and stock changes made twice, once in Business Central and once on Kogan
·Out-of-stock SKUs left live on Kogan until someone notices
·Orders re-typed from the Kogan Seller Centre into Business Central sales orders
·Shipment confirmations and dispatch windows tracked manually
·Refunds and returns approved on Kogan but never reflected as a credit memo in Business Central
With Commercium

One connection, every listing, order and refund on schedule

Commercium reads your Business Central items and location data directly and keeps Kogan in step with it automatically.

How it works

From demo to a live Kogan channel

Five steps from the first conversation to a controlled go-live. Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once your details are provided.

Step 1 of 5

Book a demo with Commercium

Tell us how your Kogan seller account is set up and how your Business Central companies and locations are structured. We walk you through the integration on a live call.

Step 2 of 5

Get your details ready

Your Kogan Seller ID and Seller API Token, your product category structure, location IDs, plus your Business Central environment name, company, and Azure AD app registration credentials (client ID, client secret and tenant ID).

Step 3 of 5

Meet your integration engineer

Your engineer connects Business Central and Kogan, then maps SKU and category data, GST-inclusive pricing, locations, carriers and refund reason codes. Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once details are provided.

Step 4 of 5

Test in a staging environment

We run test listings, stock and price updates, orders, shipment confirmations and a sample refund against a staging setup before anything touches a live buyer order.

Step 5 of 5

Go live and monitor

Once you're satisfied with the data sync, we switch the connection live. Commercium runs every flow on schedule and flags anything that needs attention.

Already have your Business Central credentials?

Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once all the necessary details are provided. Book a slot and we'll run your first test listing, order and shipment on the same call.

About the platform

What Kogan is, and what selling on it actually involves

Kogan.com is one of Australia's largest online retail destinations, and Kogan Marketplace opens that storefront to third-party sellers across Australia and New Zealand. Sellers hold their own stock, ship their own orders, and run the whole relationship through Kogan's REST API rather than a seller dashboard.

What to know about Kogan

An Australian online retail brand

Kogan.com started as a direct-to-consumer electronics retailer and grew into one of Australia's best-known online shopping destinations, now listed on the ASX and covering electronics, appliances, home, furniture, tools and everyday essentials.

Kogan Marketplace

Kogan opened its storefront to third-party sellers, so approved sellers list their own products alongside Kogan's own range and reach the same audience, with Kogan handling the storefront, traffic and customer payment.

Seller-shipped fulfilment

Marketplace sellers hold and dispatch their own stock. You publish availability, receive the order and ship it yourself under the dispatch expectations set by Kogan.

Kogan First shoppers

Kogan runs a paid membership programme whose members shop more often and expect fast, reliable dispatch, which makes accurate stock and quick shipment confirmation commercially important, not just operationally tidy.

API-first for sellers

Kogan's seller integration is a REST API. Product, inventory, order, shipment, cancellation and refund operations all run through it, which is why sellers integrate rather than click.

Refunds sit with the seller

Unlike most marketplaces, Kogan lets sellers issue refunds against their own orders once refund permission is enabled on the API key, the money decision stays with you.

Two countries, one set of credentials

Kogan Australia and Kogan New Zealand

The same API keys can be used for both country marketplaces, so expanding across the Tasman is a configuration decision rather than a second integration. Commercium keeps one source catalogue and applies separate listing, pricing, currency and availability rules per country, you decide which SKUs appear where.

Your catalogue Commercium Kogan AU
Kogan NZ

Getting your API key

Kogan API credentials are issued by the Kogan seller support team as part of onboarding. Ask for refund permission at the same time, otherwise refunds have to be raised outside the integration later.

We give you the exact wording to send Kogan support so the key arrives with every permission the integration needs.
The Kogan API surface we work with
Product Listing create & update Products are created from your catalogue with Kogan category, attributes, media and pricing. There is no seller UI, so this is the only way to manage a listing.
Inventory Stock & price Quantity and price updates published near real-time from the systems that own your stock, with buffers per channel.
Orders Order retrieval New Kogan orders are pulled on a short cycle and transformed into orders in your store, ERP, OMS or WMS.
Shipment Dispatch confirmation Carrier, service and tracking submitted back to Kogan when the warehouse dispatches, including partial shipments.
Cancellation Order cancellation Cancellations captured and reflected in your systems, with stock released back into the available pool.
Refund Seller-issued refund Full or partial refunds raised from Commercium, requires refund permission on your Kogan API key.
Field experience

What we learnt while integrating Kogan for our users

Working notes from live Kogan operations, the things that decide whether a Kogan account runs quietly, and how each one became automation inside Commercium.

Kogan hands the refund decision to its sellers

Unlike most marketplaces, Kogan gives sellers the power to refund an order themselves. That is genuinely useful, you can settle a damaged item or a partial credit without a marketplace case, but it only works if refund permission is enabled on your API key, and if the refund lands in your accounting system as well as on the order. Commercium raises the refund against the Kogan order, writes the sales credit memo into your Business Central company and keeps the reason and audit trail with it.

There is no seller UI, so the integration is the interface

Kogan does not give sellers a screen to manage products. Everything about a listing is an API operation, which is exactly why an integration platform stops being a convenience and becomes necessary: without one, a seller cannot see their own catalogue, let alone fix it. In Commercium your Kogan listings are a normal product list, searchable, filterable, bulk-editable, with the live state of every SKU and the reason behind any listing that failed.

Without an integration

2Changes scripted by hand

With Commercium
1Full catalogue view
2Bulk edit & republish
3Errors surfaced with reasons

Updating a listing means delisting and relisting

Because there is no seller UI to update products, meaningful catalogue changes are handled by delisting the product and relisting it with the corrected data. Done one SKU at a time that is punishing; done as a rule over a catalogue it is routine. Commercium batches delist-and-relist cycles, keeps the source data in Business Central, and republishes in a controlled order so a range refresh does not take your listings offline all at once.

Controlled republish
1Change detected in Business Central
2Affected SKUs batched
3Delist on Kogan
4Relist with corrected data
5Result confirmed per SKU

Onboarding starts with a support ticket, not a signup

Kogan API keys are issued by the seller support team. That is the step most new sellers do not plan for, and it is where elapsed time goes, not in the build. We tell you what to request, including refund permission and both country marketplaces, so the key arrives once and works for every flow, alongside getting your Business Central Azure AD app registration ready in parallel.

Stock accuracy carries more weight than price

Kogan shoppers, and Kogan First members in particular, buy on the expectation the item ships quickly. We publish availability from the Business Central locations that actually own stock, with per-channel buffers, so a shared pool never turns into a cancellation.

Order data needs a home before you list

Sellers who plug in Kogan before deciding where orders land end up managing a second inbox. Decide the destination company and location in Business Central, and the tax and customer mapping, first; listing is the easy part afterwards.

New Zealand is a rules decision, not a project

Because the same credentials cover both marketplaces, the real work in expanding to Kogan NZ is deciding which SKUs, prices and shipping promises apply there. We hold that as a separate rule set over one Business Central catalogue.

Dispatch confirmation is a scorecard item

Tracking that goes back late looks the same to a customer as a late parcel. Wiring shipment confirmation directly to the Business Central posted shipment event, rather than an end-of-day manual upload, is the single easiest performance win.

Ask for every API permission up front

Keys are issued by Kogan seller support, and a key without refund permission means a whole flow has to be handled manually until it is re-issued. We list the permissions to request before the ticket is raised.

Content quality decides discoverability

Titles, attributes and images are what shoppers filter and search on. Keeping that content generated from one Business Central item source, instead of typed per marketplace, is what keeps Kogan listings consistent with your store as your range changes.

Working notes from our integration team, we update this section as Kogan's requirements change.

Yes. Commercium works with businesses during onboarding to prepare product data, connect systems, configure mappings and establish operational workflows, including category-attribute setup and GST-inclusive pricing, which usually decide how smooth a first Kogan launch is.
Can Commercium help new Business Central users connect to marketplaces?
Yes. Commercium works with Business Central customers during onboarding to prepare item data, connect locations, configure mappings and set up the operational workflows a new marketplace requires.
Can I connect more than one seller account of Kogan using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many Kogan seller accounts as you want while remaining on your same plan using Commercium. You only upgrade when you cross your plan's order limits.
Can I connect more than one Business Central company using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many Business Central companies or environments as you want while remaining on your same plan, useful for multi-company or multi-entity setups. You only upgrade when you cross your plan's order limits.
What are the next steps to connect Kogan to Business Central using Commercium?
Five steps. First, book a demo with Commercium and tell us how your Kogan seller account is set up and how your Business Central companies and locations are structured. Second, get your details ready: your Kogan Seller ID and Seller API Token, your product category structure, location IDs, plus your Business Central environment name, company and Azure AD app registration credentials. Third, meet your integration engineer, who connects Business Central and Kogan and maps SKU and category data, GST-inclusive pricing, locations, carriers and refund reason codes; onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once the details are provided. Fourth, test in a staging environment, covering listings, stock and price updates, orders, shipment confirmations and a sample refund, before anything touches a live buyer order. Fifth, go live, and Commercium runs the workflows on schedule and flags anything that needs attention.
Which flows does Commercium sync between Business Central and Kogan?
Product sync, inventory sync, price sync, order sync, shipment sync and refund sync. Which of these run and how they're configured is set up per account, based on how your current Kogan listings and Business Central locations are structured.
Does Kogan require seller approval before Commercium can connect?
Yes. Kogan reviews your seller application and issues a Seller ID and Seller API Token once approved; Commercium connects using those credentials as soon as they're available.
How is GST-inclusive pricing handled between Business Central and Kogan?
Kogan lists prices inclusive of Australian GST. Commercium maps your Business Central sales price to the GST-inclusive figure Kogan expects, so the price shown on the listing matches what your price list actually intends to charge.
How are Kogan returns and refunds reflected in Business Central?
Return and refund requests raised on Kogan are pulled in, matched to the original order line, and turned into a Business Central sales credit memo, with the processed status pushed back to Kogan once complete.
How does Commercium handle stockouts and delisting on Kogan?
When Business Central stock for a listed SKU reaches zero, Commercium updates or removes the corresponding Kogan listing on the next sync cycle, so sold-out items come down automatically.
Does Commercium work with Business Central Online and on-premises?
Yes. Commercium connects through Business Central's standard API, so Business Central Online (SaaS) and on-premises deployments both connect the same way, using an Azure AD app registration or the equivalent on-premises credentials.
Does Commercium work with custom fields added via Business Central extensions?
Yes. Custom fields added through an AL extension or a custom API page, commonly used for category attributes or Kogan-specific data, can be included in the mapping so they carry through to Kogan listings.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes, we provide a 28-day, no-credit-card-required free trial.
Does every order I receive on any channel get counted against my plan order limit?

No, we only count those orders against your plan order limit that you receive via channels that you have connected using Commercium.

For example, if you are already selling on Shopify and you started selling on 3 new marketplaces connected via Commercium, we will only count those orders against your plan limit that you receive from those 3 new marketplaces, not the orders that you receive via Shopify.

How frequently does the data sync happen between the connected platforms?
Inventory sync happens near real-time, and all other sync happens within 5 to 10 minutes.
Can I connect additional marketplaces and platforms later using Commercium?

Yes. Commercium supports over 200+ marketplaces, ecommerce platforms, ERPs, shipping providers, accounting systems and fulfilment platforms through the same application.

Most of the platforms you can connect for free while remaining on your existing plan.

What happens when I cross my plan limit?

Once you cross your plan limit, your data sync remains active and everything keeps working as usual. We send you a monthly overage invoice that you can pay from within your Commercium portal within 7 days of the invoice issue date.

You can also upgrade to a higher plan later if you continuously cross your plan's limits, because it saves you money since higher volume plans cost less.

What support is included?
12x5 support is included, with priority support and SLAs available on Enterprise. Onboarding assistance covers data preparation, mappings and workflow setup rather than leaving you with documentation.
Is my data secure?
Commercium is built for enterprise use with AES-256 encryption, SOC 2 Type II practices and GDPR compliance. Platform credentials are scoped and revocable from your own admin at any time.
Still have a question about your setup?

Tell us your Business Central setup, how your Kogan seller account is configured, and how you handle refunds and category attributes today, and we'll tell you exactly what the integration looks like.
