About the integration

One connection between your retailer network and Business Central

Selling through Dsco means every retailer you supply expects accurate stock, on-time acknowledgements and clean shipment data — while Business Central is where your items, locations, purchasing and finance actually live. Without an integration, teams end up exporting spreadsheets, re-keying orders into BC, and manually pushing stock counts back out.

The problem we solve

Dropship retailers score suppliers on fill rate, acknowledgement speed and on-time shipping — and all three depend on Business Central data reaching Dsco fast and accurately, and on Dsco orders reaching Business Central the moment they land. Manual handling breaks down as soon as you add a second or third retailer: each one wants slightly different attributes, ship-by handling and packing-slip behaviour, multiplied across every item and order. Commercium removes the manual step entirely — Business Central stays your single source of truth, and every Dsco trading partner reads and writes through one automated connection.

Architecture
How the integration is built with Commercium
1

Book a demo with Commercium

Tell us which Dsco retailers you supply and how your Business Central environment is set up — companies, locations and the modules you use for sales, inventory and finance. We walk through the integration on a live call.

2

Share your Dsco and Business Central credentials

Retrieve your Dsco account API key from the Dsco portal, and register an Azure AD application for Commercium against your Business Central tenant so we can call the OData v4 API over OAuth 2.0. These are what authorise Commercium to work across both systems.

3

Meet your integration engineer

An integration engineer maps your Business Central item and location structure to each Dsco trading partner’s requirements, and configures the acknowledgement, shipment and packing-slip workflows.

4

Test every flow end to end

Run test items, orders, acknowledgements, shipments and packing slips between Business Central and Dsco — using Dsco’s own onboarding interface — until every flow behaves the way your operation needs.

5

Go live with Dsco support

Once you’re satisfied with the sync, contact Dsco support to switch the connection live. Commercium runs the workflows continuously and flags anything that needs attention.

Already have your Dsco API key and Business Central API access?

Onboarding typically takes about a day once both are ready. Book a slot and we’ll run your first test order, acknowledgement and shipment on the same call.

About the platform

What Dsco is — and what integrating with it involves

Dsco (a CommerceHub company) is a dropship and marketplace network that sits between retailers and their suppliers. A retailer invites you in as a trading partner and publishes its orders into Dsco; you publish item data, inventory and shipments back. One Dsco account can serve many retailer relationships at once, each with its own data requirements, acknowledgement window and shipping rules.

Field mappings & data requirements

Retailer–supplier network

Retailers invite suppliers onto Dsco and manage them as trading partners. One Dsco account can serve many retailer relationships at once, each with its own requirements and performance expectations.

Item & product data

Suppliers publish item records — identifiers, titles, descriptions, images, categories, costs and retailer-specific attributes — which retailers pull into their own catalogue and storefront.

Inventory & cost feeds

Quantity, cost, MSRP, warehouse availability and discontinued flags are pushed to Dsco so each retailer sees accurate availability before a customer buys.

Orders & acknowledgement

Retailer orders land in Dsco with ship-to details, service levels and expected ship dates. Suppliers acknowledge each order — accepting, backordering or cancelling lines — inside the retailer’s window.

Shipments & tracking

Shipment confirmations carry carrier, service, tracking numbers and shipped quantities back to the retailer, closing the order and triggering the shopper’s tracking email.

Packing slips & documents

Many retailers require their own branded packing slip in the box. Dsco exposes those documents per order so the right slip reaches the right pick-and-pack station.

Retailer-invited, supplier-operated

A retailer runs its dropship programme on Dsco and invites you in as a trading partner. Your Dsco account holds your items, inventory and orders; the retailer sets the data requirements, the acknowledgement window and the shipping rules for its own relationship. Commercium sits behind your account and drives all of it from your Business Central data — the same source feeding every partner.

Field experience

What we learnt while integrating Dsco with Business Central for our users

Notes from live Dsco-to-Business Central operations across apparel, footwear, outdoor, pet and department-store retailers, and how each lesson became automation inside Commercium.

Field mappings differ for every trading partner

This is the single biggest lesson from live Dsco work: shipping and product-data workflows are not uniform across the network. Two retailers on Dsco will want different attributes on an item, different carrier and service codes on a shipment, different handling of ship-from locations and different packing-slip behaviour. Commercium keeps one mapping profile per trading partner over your single Business Central catalogue, so the work is done once per retailer and never repeated across your systems.

Overselling is what a dropship programme is scored on

The moment a Business Central location also supplies three Dsco retailers, the same physical unit is offered four times. A dropship cancellation costs more than a store one — it hits the retailer’s fill-rate scorecard as well as the customer. Selected BC locations are pooled into one available quantity, adjusted by a safety buffer per retailer, and pushed to Dsco near real time; when an order lands anywhere, the pool is recalculated and every partner is updated.

We sync the flows a dropship relationship actually runs on

Retailers judge suppliers on data quality, fill rate, acknowledgement speed and on-time shipping, so those are the flows we automate end to end. Commercium provides product, inventory, order, order-acknowledge, shipment and packing slip sync across every Dsco trading partner on your account, driven from Business Central.

We use Business Central’s OData v4 API for connectivity

We integrate through Business Central’s api/v2.0 OData endpoints over OAuth 2.0 rather than file feeds. It gives immediate confirmation of what BC accepted, per-record error detail instead of a rejected batch, and a sync cadence that keeps inventory close to real time on every retailer.

Onboarding takes an hour once API access exists

Getting your Dsco account and API key through the retailer’s programme is the part that takes real time. After that it takes one hour at most to get onboarded — Business Central connects through an Azure AD app registration with delegated or service-to-service OAuth, and your trading partners are detected from the same Dsco key.

Dsco’s own portal makes onboarding smoother

Dsco provides an intuitive onboarding interface inside its portal that supports initial order, acknowledgement and shipping testing. We run those tests with your team, so the first real retailer order is never the first order you’ve ever processed.

Business Central catalogues are operations-ready, not retailer-ready

An item card built for internal operations can still be rejected: barcodes blank because BC never required them, a mandatory retailer attribute with nowhere to live, or an image that has to be reachable at a public URL. We validate against each partner’s requirements before submission and report errors per record — extending item attributes with Business Central extension fields where a retailer needs one BC doesn’t track by default.

Acknowledgement is a separate flow from fulfilment

Retailers expect an order response well before a shipment, and a warehouse-paced workflow will miss it. Commercium acknowledges against live pooled stock, backorders or cancels lines under your rules, and keeps the audit trail so scorecards stay clean while the warehouse works its normal picking cycle.

Packing slips belong in the pick-and-pack flow

A retailer-branded packing slip in the wrong box is a chargeback. We retrieve each order’s slip from Dsco and route it with the pick list to the fulfilling Business Central location or 3PL, so it prints where the order is packed.

Dropship orders shouldn’t behave like store orders

Created naively, retailer orders trigger Business Central customer notifications, distort location reporting and pollute your customer records. We create them tagged by trading partner, with notifications suppressed, the right location assigned and dropship cost rather than retail price on the lines.

Adding the next retailer should be configuration

Once Dsco and your Business Central tenant are wired into Commercium, a new trading partner is a new mapping profile over the same source catalogue. That is why a retailer we have not worked with before can usually be added within a day.

Working notes from our integration team — we update this section as Business Central and retailer requirements change.

FAQ'S

Frequently asked questions

Technical questions about the Dsco + Business Central integration, and general questions about how Commercium works.

Can Commercium create products on Dsco?
Yes. Commercium creates and updates Dsco item records directly from your Business Central item card — item numbers, descriptions, images, categories, costs and the attributes each retailer requires.
Can Dsco orders be sent to my ERP?
Yes. Dsco orders can be transformed and sent to Business Central as sales orders, with acknowledgement, shipment and tracking flowing back to the retailer through Dsco. The same connection also supports sending orders to other supported ERP, ecommerce, OMS, WMS, accounting or fulfilment systems.
Can Commercium help new Dsco sellers?
Yes. Commercium works with businesses during onboarding to prepare product data in Business Central, connect systems, configure mappings and establish operational workflows before the first Dsco retailer order arrives.
Can I connect more than one seller account of Dsco using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many Dsco seller accounts as you want while remaining on your same plan using Commercium. You only upgrade when you cross your plan's order limits.
What are the next steps to connect Dsco to Business Central using Commercium?
Book a demo so we can review the Dsco retailers you supply and your Business Central setup; retrieve your Dsco account API key and register an Azure AD app for Business Central API access; meet your integration engineer to have the mapping profiles built for each trading partner; test product, inventory, order, shipment and packing slip flows end to end; then contact Dsco support to switch the connection live, with Commercium running the workflows from day one.
Can Commercium sync Business Central inventory to Dsco in real time?
Yes. Inventory sync between Business Central and Dsco happens near real time, so on-hand quantity across your BC locations is reflected to every connected retailer as it changes.
Does someone in my team still need to acknowledge Dsco orders manually?
No. Commercium can acknowledge Dsco orders automatically based on Business Central stock availability — accepting, backordering or cancelling lines inside the retailer's acknowledgement window — with manual review available for exceptions you configure.
Can order cancellations in Business Central be reported back to Dsco?
Yes. When a sales order line is cancelled in Business Central, Commercium reports the cancellation back to Dsco as an acknowledgement update, so the retailer's order record reflects it correctly.
Does Commercium support multiple Business Central companies or locations for one Dsco account?
Yes. Commercium maps Dsco trading partners to specific Business Central companies and locations, so multi-entity and multi-location BC setups route orders and stock to the right place.
Which Business Central editions and deployments does Commercium support?
Commercium connects to Business Central Online (SaaS) and on-premises deployments, using Microsoft's standard OData v4 API (the api/v2.0 endpoints) secured with Azure AD OAuth 2.0 — no custom AL extension required to get started.
Can Dsco retailer-specific attributes be mapped to custom fields in Business Central?
Yes. Where a retailer requires attributes Business Central doesn't track by default, Commercium can map them to custom fields — including ones added through a small AL extension — as part of your per-partner mapping profile.
How does Commercium handle Dsco packing slips alongside Business Central shipment documents?
Commercium retrieves the retailer's required packing slip from Dsco and routes it alongside the Business Central posted shipment's pick instructions, so the right paperwork reaches the warehouse team packing that order.
Does Commercium support Business Central item variants and units of measure?
Yes. Item variants (such as size and colour) and alternate units of measure in Business Central are mapped to the item and pack-size fields each Dsco retailer expects, so variant-level stock and pricing stay accurate.
How long does Dsco + Business Central onboarding take?
Getting your Dsco account API key through the retailer's programme is usually the longest step. Once you have that and an Azure AD app registration ready for Business Central, Commercium onboarding typically takes about a day, including testing every flow with your integration engineer.
