About the integration

What Commercium solves between Business Central and Amazon Vendor Central

Amazon Vendor Central is where the retailer's expectations live: PO cadence, EDI document sets, inventory feed policy and Direct Fulfillment label requirements. Business Central is where your items, locations and sales orders live. Commercium runs everything in between, without your team logging into a portal.

The problem

Vendor compliance done by hand

A Business Central user that also supplies Amazon as a vendor ends up running two operations: the one Business Central automates, and the one an ops person does inside Vendor Central.

·Purchase orders re-keyed from Vendor Central into Business Central sales orders
·Direct Fulfillment shipping labels built and printed one carton at a time
·ASNs (856) typed up after the truck is already loaded
·Inventory feeds uploaded manually to avoid chargebacks
·Invoices that don't match Amazon's expected cost and PO references
·No single view across Direct Fulfillment and warehouse-replenishment POs
With Commercium

Every document on a schedule, not a to-do list

One connection carries the whole vendor cycle, driven by the Business Central data your team already maintains.

Business Central stays where your team works. Commercium sits between it and Amazon Vendor Central, so every program gets exactly the documents and labels it requires, in its format and on its schedule, from one Business Central connection.

How it works
1

Book a demo with Commercium

Tell us which Amazon vendor programs you run, how your Business Central locations are set up, and which system holds your cost data. We walk you through the integration on a live call.

2

Get your details ready

Your Vendor Central account and EDI credentials, location or DC IDs, routing requirements and label specs, plus your Business Central environment and API credentials.

3

Meet your integration engineer

Your engineer connects Business Central and Amazon Vendor Central, then maps item identity, locations, carriers, cost fields and label formats. Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once details are provided.

4

Test in the Vendor Central sandbox

Amazon provides a test environment. We run test POs, acknowledgements, ASNs, labels and invoices there before anything touches a live shipment.

5

Go live and monitor

Once you're satisfied with the data sync, we switch the connection live. Commercium runs every flow on schedule and flags anything that needs attention.

Already have your Amazon Vendor Central credentials?

Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once all the necessary details are provided. Book a slot and we'll run your first sandbox PO, ASN, label and invoice on the same call.

About the platform

Amazon Vendor Central, and what supplying it actually involves

Vendor Central is a retailer-run vendor platform where every program sets its own documents, formats and label specs. Commercium sits between it and Business Central, so your team never has to work inside the portal.

The platform

Amazon Vendor Central

Retailer vendor platform

Vendor Central is the portal and EDI platform Amazon uses to run its first-party vendor programs. Amazon issues purchase orders, either fulfilled from your own warehouse (Direct Fulfillment / drop-ship) or shipped in bulk to an Amazon fulfillment center, and sets the data requirements, label specs and performance scorecard vendors are measured against. One account can carry several programs, each with its own document set and routing rules.

Direct Fulfillment (drop-ship) purchase orders
Warehouse-replenishment purchase orders
PO acknowledgement (855)
ASN and carton labeling (856 + GS1-128)
Invoice submission (810)
Daily inventory feed policy (846)
Vendor scorecard and chargebacks

Field experience

What we learnt while integrating Business Central with Amazon Vendor Central

Notes from live vendor operations, and how each lesson became automation inside Commercium rather than a task on somebody's list.

Direct orders need a label the moment a shipment is posted

Direct Fulfillment orders ship from your own warehouse, which means the GS1-128 carton label is your responsibility, not Amazon's. Building it by hand per carton, or rebuilding it inside a separate warehouse system, is where most vendors lose time. Commercium generates the label automatically the moment a shipment is posted in Business Central and routes it straight to the pack station.

Carton and pallet hierarchy
GS1-128 barcode format
Mixed-SKU carton support
No portal downloads, order by order
Direct order, end to end
1Order imported into Business Central
2Acknowledgement sent
3Shipment posted
4Label generated and printed
5ASN and invoice submitted

The daily inventory feed is a policy, not an option

Amazon's vendor policy mandates a full 846 inventory upload once a day. Commercium does it to maintain compliance, and runs real-time updates alongside it, so availability between the daily files is never stale. Both matter for different reasons: the daily file keeps you reconciled against the platform, while the live deltas are what stop a shared Business Central item pool from overselling a program into cancellations.

Scheduled daily full file
Real-time delta updates
Pooled Business Central locations
Per-program safety buffers
One unit, every channel
1Order lands in Business Central or Amazon
2Location quantity decremented
3Pooled quantity recalculated
4Availability updated on Vendor Central
5Full feed reconciles it once a day

Onboarding is quick: gathering the details is the real timeline

Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once all the necessary details are provided by the customer. In practice the elapsed time is spent collecting those details from Amazon and from your own systems, which is why we send the list before the call rather than discovering gaps during it. Business Central itself connects in minutes through its API v2.0 (OData / REST).

What we need from you
Vendor Central account and EDI credentials
Location / DC IDs
Program document and label set
Business Central environment and API credentials
Locations in the stock pool
Carrier and routing codes

Amazon gives you a sandbox: use it

Vendor Central provides a test environment, and it changes how a go-live feels. We run POs, acknowledgements, ASNs, labels and invoices there with your team first, so the first real shipment is never the first order you've ever processed.

Business Central orders don't carry everything an invoice needs

Vendor invoices want cost, allowances and PO references that a standard sales order was never designed to hold. We assemble the invoice from Business Central order data plus per-program rules, so the uploaded invoice matches your books.

Direct and DC orders shouldn't behave the same way

Created naively, every Amazon PO looks identical in the ERP. We tag Direct Fulfillment orders for label generation and DC orders for bulk routing, so the warehouse never has to figure out which rules apply.

Partial fulfilment needs a rule, not a decision

Backorders, short ships and split shipments come up constantly. We set the rule once per program (accept, backorder or cancel the line) so the warehouse never has to interpret Amazon policy in the moment.

Working notes from our integration team. We update this section as Business Central and Amazon requirements change.

FAQ'S

Business Central + Amazon Vendor Central questions, answered

Technical questions about how the two platforms sync, and general questions about running on Commercium.

Can Commercium create products on Amazon Vendor Central?
No. Commercium does not currently support product or ASIN creation for Amazon Vendor Central. Item setup is handled with Amazon directly, following its own vendor item-setup process. Once your items exist, Commercium runs everything around them from Business Central: inventory, orders, acknowledgements, shipments, labels and invoices.
Can Commercium create products on Business Central?
Yes. Items, item cross-references, location quantities and attributes can be created and updated in Business Central from your PIM or another connected channel, so Business Central can be either the source of truth or the destination, depending on how you run your catalog.
Can Amazon Vendor Central orders be sent to my ERP?
Yes. Amazon Vendor Central orders can be transformed and sent to supported ERP, ecommerce, OMS, WMS, accounting or fulfilment systems, including Business Central, with acknowledgement, shipment, label and invoice data flowing back to Amazon through Vendor Central.
Can Business Central orders be sent to other connected systems?
Yes. Business Central orders can be transformed and sent to supported OMS, WMS, accounting or fulfilment platforms, and fulfilment, tracking and label status flow back into Business Central.
Can Commercium help new Amazon Vendor Central sellers?
Yes. Commercium works with businesses during onboarding to prepare product data, connect systems, configure mappings and establish operational workflows, including the per-program document profile and the SKU or ASIN and facility mapping that usually decide how smooth a first vendor program is.
Can Commercium help new Business Central users connect to marketplaces?
Yes. Commercium works with Business Central customers during onboarding to prepare item data, connect locations, configure mappings and set up the operational workflows a new marketplace or retailer program requires.
Can I connect more than one seller account of Amazon Vendor Central using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many seller accounts as you want while remaining on your same plan using Commercium. You only upgrade when you cross your plan's order limits.
Can I connect more than one Business Central environment or company using Commercium?
Yes, you can add as many Business Central companies, environments or tenants as you want while remaining on your same plan, useful for multi-entity or multi-brand setups. You only upgrade when you cross your plan's order limits.
What are the next steps to connect Amazon Vendor Central to Business Central using Commercium?
Five steps. First, book a demo with Commercium and tell us which Amazon vendor programs you run and how your Business Central locations are set up. Second, get your details ready: your Vendor Central account and EDI credentials, location or DC IDs and the document and label set each program requires, plus your Business Central environment and API credentials. Third, meet your integration engineer, who connects both platforms and maps item identity, locations, carriers, cost and invoice fields per program; onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once the details are provided. Fourth, test in the Vendor Central sandbox, covering POs, acknowledgements, ASNs, labels and invoices, before anything touches a live shipment. Fifth, go live, and Commercium runs the workflows on schedule and flags anything that needs attention.
Which flows does Commercium sync between Business Central and Amazon Vendor Central?
Inventory sync, order sync with acknowledgement, shipment sync with ASN and tracking, and automatic label generation for Direct Fulfillment orders, plus invoice submission where a program requires it. Which of those run is set per program, because program requirements differ.
Do all Amazon programs need shipping labels generated?
No, and this is one of the main things to establish up front. Direct Fulfillment orders ship from your own warehouse, so a GS1-128 carton label is your responsibility. Warehouse-replenishment orders ship in bulk to an Amazon fulfilment center and follow different packaging rules. Commercium holds one document and label profile per program, so each one receives exactly what it requires.
How does the daily full inventory upload (846) work?
Amazon's vendor policy mandates a full 846 inventory upload once a day. Commercium performs that upload to maintain compliance, and runs real-time inventory updates alongside it so availability never goes stale between the daily files.
How is Business Central inventory kept accurate across locations?
You choose which Business Central locations contribute to vendor availability. Those quantities are pooled into one available quantity, adjusted by a safety buffer per program, and published to Vendor Central in near real time. When an order lands in Business Central or on Amazon, the pool is recalculated and every program is updated.
Does Commercium support Business Central multi-location and bin-tracked warehouses?
Yes. Availability can be pooled from specific locations, including bin-tracked or directed pick-and-put-away warehouses, and you decide which locations count toward Amazon's available quantity versus which stay excluded from the vendor pool entirely.
Is there a sandbox environment for testing?
Yes. Vendor Central provides a test environment, and we use it. Test POs, acknowledgements, ASNs, labels and invoices are all run there with your team before the connection goes live.
How long does the Business Central + Amazon Vendor Central onboarding take?
Onboarding takes 1 to 2 hours once all the necessary details are provided: Vendor Central account and EDI credentials, location or DC IDs, the program document and label set, and your Business Central environment and API credentials. Business Central itself connects in minutes through its API v2.0.
Are Amazon purchase orders created inside Business Central?
Yes. Purchase orders are created as Business Central sales orders tagged Direct Fulfillment or DC, with the correct location assigned and vendor cost on the lines, so picking happens in your normal workflow.
Are partial shipments, backorders and cancellations supported?
Yes. Partial and split shipments are confirmed per carton or per line, and backorder or cancellation rules are set once per program so the warehouse never has to interpret Amazon policy in the moment.
