Products live as products with variants, stock is tracked as inventory levels per location, orders carry fulfilments and refunds, and everything is reachable through the Admin API. For most sellers it is already the cleanest catalogue they own, which makes it the natural source for marketplace expansion.

Mirakl is not a marketplace, it is the platform retailers, brands and distributors use to run their own. Carrefour, Best Buy Canada, Leroy Merlin, Kroger, Douglas, Decathlon and hundreds of B2B and industrial operators run on it. Sellers join through Mirakl Connect or the operator directly, then publish offers into that operator’s catalogue. Each operator is its own instance: its own API key, category tree, attributes, carriers, commissions and KPIs.

How the combo works

Shopify stays the source, Commercium does the translation

You keep editing products, prices and stock where your team already works. Commercium reads Shopify, applies one mapping profile per Mirakl operator, submits products and offers, then reverses the flow for orders: retrieved from the operator, accepted inside the SLA, created in Shopify for fulfilment, and closed out with tracking, refunds and settlement data.

Two catalogue models to plan for

Which one you face is decided by the operator, not by Shopify, and it changes how much catalogue work go-live needs.

Offer-only

The operator owns the catalogue. Your Shopify variants are matched to existing products by EAN, GTIN or operator SKU and only the offer is published, fast, as long as your barcodes are complete.

Product + offer

You submit the product itself: operator category, mandatory attributes, value lists and media, then the offer against it. Mapping and validation carry the effort here.

Overselling is the first thing that breaks

The moment a Shopify store also sells on two or three Mirakl operators, the same physical unit is offered four times. Marketplace cancellations hurt more than store ones, they hit the operator’s cancellation-rate KPI as well as the customer. Stock pooling is not a nice-to-have; it is the reason the integration exists. Commercium helps sellers:

Acceptance windows are shorter than a Shopify workflow

Mirakl orders wait in an acceptance state and are auto-cancelled if you miss the operator’s window, sometimes less than a working day. A team used to Shopify’s relaxed rhythm will miss it. Orders are retrieved on a schedule, checked against live pooled stock, accepted or refused under your rules, created in Shopify with the right location, and shipped with a tracking number the operator will actually accept.

Shopify catalogues are shopper-ready, not operator-ready

A store catalogue that converts beautifully can still be refused wholesale: barcodes are blank because Shopify never required them, a mandatory attribute exists only in that operator’s category, an image has to be reachable at a public URL, or an identifier type isn’t accepted. Marketplace price is never the Shopify price

Operator commission, shipping treatment and local competition mean the retail price on your store rarely works as an offer price. We build per-operator price rules off the Shopify price, uplift, floor, rounding and promo handling, so nobody maintains prices twice.

Shopify locations don’t map one-to-one to fulfilment

Marketplace orders often need a specific warehouse or 3PL and a different lead time from your D2C promise. Routing rules choose the location per operator, and the order lands in Shopify already assigned so pickers do not have to decide.

Variants and operator identifiers rarely line up

Shopify option names, sizes and colours are written for shoppers; operators want their own value lists. Value normalisation lives in the mapping profile, so “Navy Blue” becomes whatever each operator accepts without touching your product data.

Metafields are the right home for operator attributes

Mandatory operator attributes that Shopify has no field for end up in spreadsheets otherwise. We define metafields for them so your merchandisers keep editing in one place and the operator still gets a complete submission.

Marketplace orders shouldn’t behave like store orders

Created naively, Mirakl orders trigger Shopify customer emails, break your channel reporting and pollute your customer records. We create them tagged, attributed to the operator, with notifications suppressed and taxes marked as marketplace-collected.

Operator KPIs quietly gate your growth

Acceptance rate, late-shipment rate, cancellation rate and message response time affect visibility and account standing. We monitor them per operator and raise them as operational alerts, not month-end reports.

B2B orders arrive with a VAT invoice obligation

Many Mirakl operators run B2B alongside consumer sales, and those orders require a VAT invoice to be uploaded back to the operator before the order can settle cleanly. Commercium identifies B2B orders automatically and handles the VAT invoice upload for them, so finance is not chasing marketplace portals by hand.

Tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive is never one answer

When orders are written into Shopify or an ERP, some businesses need totals tax-inclusive and others need them exclusive, get it wrong and every downstream report is off. Commercium transforms order totals to tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive according to each customer’s preferred setting.

Can Commercium create products on Mirakl?

Yes, where the operator’s catalogue model allows it. On product+offer marketplaces we submit the product against the operator’s category tree, mandatory attributes and value lists, then publish the offer against it. On offer-only marketplaces the operator owns the catalogue, so we match your Shopify variants to existing products by EAN, GTIN or operator SKU and publish the offer only.

Can Commercium create products on Shopify?

Yes. Products, variants, images, inventory levels and metafields can be created and updated in Shopify from your ERP, PIM or another connected channel, so Shopify can be either the source of truth or the destination, depending on how you run your catalogue.

How is inventory kept in sync between Shopify and Mirakl operators?

Selected Shopify locations are pooled into a single available quantity, adjusted by any safety buffer you set per operator, and pushed to every connected marketplace near real-time. When an order lands on any channel, the pooled quantity is recalculated and offers are updated everywhere, which is what prevents overselling.

Are Shopify multi-location inventories supported?

Yes. You choose which locations contribute to marketplace availability, and routing rules decide which location or 3PL fulfils each operator order, so your marketplace stock can differ from your total on-hand stock by design.

Can prices differ between Shopify and each Mirakl operator?

Yes. Marketplace prices are derived from your Shopify price using per-operator rules, commission uplift, floors and ceilings, rounding and promotional handling, so you never maintain a second price list by hand.

Are Mirakl orders created inside Shopify?

They can be. Marketplace orders are created as Shopify orders tagged by operator, with customer notifications suppressed, the correct fulfilment location assigned and taxes marked as marketplace-collected, so fulfilment happens in your normal workflow without polluting your store reporting.

How do Shopify variants map to Mirakl offers?

What if my Shopify products have no barcodes?

How are order acceptance deadlines handled?

Orders are retrieved on a schedule, checked against live pooled stock and accepted or refused automatically under rules you set. Orders approaching the operator deadline are escalated, and shipment plus tracking is submitted as soon as your warehouse or 3PL confirms.

What happens when an operator rejects a product?

The rejection report is retrieved with the import, parsed into readable errors and mapped back to the source Shopify item. Most issues are prevented earlier by validating against that operator’s requirements before submission, and fixed items are resubmitted automatically.

How are tracking numbers and carriers handled?

Carrier codes and shipping types are per-operator, not universal. Each operator gets its own carrier mapping table, so tracking submitted from Shopify or your 3PL is accepted and the shopper actually sees it.

Do refunds and cancellations flow both ways?

Yes. Refunds and cancellations raised on the operator are reflected in Shopify, and refunds raised in Shopify are pushed to the operator, so payouts, store reporting and accounting agree.

Does Commercium support Mirakl B2B orders and VAT invoices?

Yes. Mirakl operators run B2B sales alongside consumer orders, and those orders require a VAT invoice to be uploaded against the order. Commercium identifies B2B orders automatically and uploads the VAT invoice for them, so your finance team is not logging into operator portals to do it manually.

Can order totals be synced tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive?

Yes. Some businesses need marketplace order totals written into Shopify or their ERP tax-inclusive, others tax-exclusive. Commercium transforms the totals to match your preferred setting so downstream reporting and accounting reconcile correctly.

Do you handle commissions and payouts?

Commercium retrieves transaction logs per operator and matches commissions, refunds and adjustments back to orders, so settlements can be reconciled before they reach QuickBooks, Xero or your ERP.

Are Shopify metafields supported for operator attributes?

Yes. Mandatory operator attributes that Shopify has no native field for can live in metafields, keeping Shopify the single place your merchandisers edit while operators still receive complete submissions.

Do you support multi-country operators and currencies?

Yes. An operator running several country marketplaces usually has separate instances, currencies, tax handling and lead times. Each is treated as its own connection with shared source data from Shopify.

Does Commercium need a Shopify app install?

Commercium connects to your store through Shopify’s Admin API with scoped permissions you approve. No theme changes are required, and access can be revoked from your Shopify admin at any time.

Are Shopify bundles or kits supported?

Yes. Bundles and kits can be sold as a single marketplace offer while inventory is deducted from the component SKUs, so component stock stays accurate across Shopify and every operator.

Does every order I receive on any channel get counted against my plan order limit?

No, we only count those orders against your plan order limit that you receive via channels that you have connected using Commercium.

For example, if you are already selling on Shopify and you started selling on 3 new marketplaces connected via Commercium, we will only count those orders against your plan limit that you receive from those 3 new marketplaces, not the orders that you receive via Shopify.

How frequently does the data sync happen between the connected platforms?

Inventory sync happens near real-time, and all other sync happens within 5–10 minutes.

Can I connect additional marketplaces and platforms later using Commercium?

Yes. Commercium supports over 200+ marketplaces, ecommerce platforms, ERPs, shipping providers, accounting systems and fulfilment platforms through the same application.

Most of the platforms you can connect for free while remaining on your existing plan.

What happens when I cross my plan limit?

Once you cross your plan limit, your data sync remains active and everything keeps working as usual. We send you a monthly overage invoice that you can pay from within your Commercium portal within 7 days of the invoice issue date.

You can also upgrade to a higher plan later if you continuously cross your plan’s limits, because it saves you money, higher volume plans cost less.

How long does onboarding take?

It depends on the catalogue model of your operators and the state of your product data. Connecting Shopify and a first operator is quick; catalogue readiness, attributes, media and identifiers, is usually what sets the timeline. Our team works through it with you during onboarding.

What support is included?

Is my data secure?
